what kind of exhaust does it have? I started off with a lid (~$100), LT headers (~$300 uncoated pacesetters) and a Texas Speed Y Pipe (~$140 uncatted, ~$300 catted), that should give u a decnt amount of power and sound.
361hp 351tq 98 Z/28 A4 SLP Lid/Smooth Bellow/LM2 K&N Filter Pacesetter Headers TSP Y Pipe Z06 Style Wheels B&M shifter Yank 3200 Prothane Motor/Trans Mounts Torquer V2/7.425" p-rods/Comp Springs
$, the replacement for displacement.

go here and do some of the free mods as well.
just so you know though, you'll be suprised just how quick your car will be. might scare ya a bit...
the lid may add ~10 hp, i cant remember the exact number at the moment. as mentioned longtube headers is a nice starting mod and you could see ~25 hp out of that or more depending on the headers.
getting an ls6 intake manifold would add roughly 15 hp also. they are about $350.
with any driving you would easily be in the high 12s with these few things.
catback exhaust is a good idea if thats what you like, most just do an off road (no catalytic converters) Y pipe with longtube headers and a cat back exhaust of their choice such as magnaflow or hooker. that would add another ~25 hp.
