I am thinking about putting a 502 in my 1998 trans am. any thoughts or warnings?

yeah, its got a lot of mods but i was thinking about turning it into a street legal drag car.

Just put it this way, just about every part you can think of in your car, is going to have to be upgraded. Im in the process of researcing a 402 iron block swap. Im up to about 18K without labor.

Word brotha, haha.

I got a whole word document typed of everything that ive done to my car and all my plans for the future. Ultimately ill have a 408 stroker, all forged out. AFR heads, t rex or t rex killer cam (or if something better comes out by then), and a 200 wet shot thats totally hidden. Thats just the basics of the motor. Not to mention the fully built tranny, driveshaft, 12bolt, etc etc etc etc

I take it your talking about the thread starter...Yeah, hes only 19, fresh out of hs and has an ls1 thats already hooked and has the $ to throw a 502 in it. Must have generous rents

If by some reason you were talking about me...those plans are for days-weeks-months-years haha I like to dream ahead......2 years from now it will be a menace from hell

Like what? It prolly doesnt have what it needs in order to handle a 502.

dude dont....just dont fuck up that car it is already very nice and i have always liked it but you just have no idea man 502 motor into this car would be about the price of buying a cheap new car.....seriously

just put heads/cam/nos and a few other things run 10's and be happy

WOW!

ya'll need alot of money first off...

then new drive train... rear, tranny, clutch, pres plate, drive shaft...

then new exhaust... different heads = different headers

will it fit... may need somecutting under the hood...

roll bar is a must if its a drag car...

other then that... if ya got the $$$$$$$$$$$$ go for it! don't let anyone make ya think its too hard or not worth it... the fact of the matter is... is its a hell of alotta fun... wish i had the money to make a race car... have fun and be safe buddy
