    Price for 1978 Corvette

My uncle is getting ready to buy a 1978 corvette as an investment and I wanted to know what you guys think.
It only has 17,000 miles, is a 25th anniversary edition, white with blue interior, and is automatic. Its was garage kept and is supposed to be in almost perfect condition with only two dings from where someone closed the door while the seat belt was in the way. Its a single owner car and he is getting for $13,000.

Is it a good deal? And is there anything we should look for when we go look at it?
    Thanks

    re:

I have a 79 vette and $13,000 is not a bad price. Things to look for are hair line cracks in the paint. Older corvette are famous for developing these fractures. Also along the rear and front bumper you can see bolt dimples where they bolt the bumpers to the body of the car. Which for 78-80 are a rubbery bumper painted the car color. For an unrestored corvette this is normal and not a really bad thing. Its kinda the proof that its all original.

Now if you plan never to modify this car and leave as is then this would be a good car to buy. The value should not drop down any lower and might increase in a few years and well be a nice car to drive. If you plan to mod the car in any way and I mean any way, I would look for another. You could pick up a non-numbers matching vette of the same year with a little more miles for half the price and moding it will not hurt the value.

Other things to look for are normal car stuff: wear, tear, numbers matching, all original equipment is still there etc.

    Just my 2cents tho.

Yeah we went to look at it and the guy had lied about everything. It was not a single owner car and was in horrible shape so we we didn't buy it.
    Thanks for the input guys.

haha 78 25 anniv vettes have never met expectations. Old high school bud got one brand new back in the day. His daddy bought it-- he had his girlfriend's name engraved on the console... haha. it's like buying stock after the market is correction.
