Data recorder. As far as I know all auto makers are putting them on the car. It will let them see everyithng done to the car. I.E. maintenace cycles and if you followed them. It will also help for accident information. It will tell how fast said person was going etc. Again a data recorder.

why can't they make the whole plane out of the same material as the black box? Its the only part of the plane that always survives.

Oh, by the way I am a airplane mechanic, little joke around the office.

I had to take a driver re-education class once but the guy running the show was a firefighter/emt and he told me theres black boxes on every vehicle produced after 1998. he said he got called to a junkyard one day to open up the frame of this vehicle w/ the jaws of life to get to the black box for the police investigators. from what Ive heard they record like 30seconds of information at a time, diagnostics, driver inputs, speed etc so say your raging your camaro and have a bad accident, the police can get that data and burn you at the stake. ..another reason why I love my LT1

Um.... the little black box is... the fucking BCM in most cars. Its not like they had to add a giant box to the car, the computers record all that stuff anyway, they just changed the programming so it actually remembers it for a longer period of time.

So, NO, that thing is not a data recorder.

It obviously stores something... my guess is its a reserve fuel tank... or some sort of diff cooler?

Just look at the design of the thing... its got 3 cells... with both the outside ones connected to the middle one with the opposite endtanks... One end has a hose going to... something... and the other side has an electrical connection... and another connection(or hose maybe? too blurry) Is the car AWD?

Flux-capacitor, or possibly the hyperdrive generator, one of the two.

Come on now, everyone, that is the evaporative emissions cannister. It stores the gas vapor from the gas tank until the PCM determines it is ready to purge the vapors by burning them. Can't put out ANY extra hydrocarbons, you know!

Are you high? How can you mistake that for a flux capacitor? The flux capacitors look like this http://kalecoauto.com/index.php?main...products_id=28

And I dont think the milans came with a hyperdirve generator and I dont know how it looks like so the black box must be the extra storage case for the blinker fluid

Ding, Ding,Ding correct you are........almost.....It is actually a box, the government required the auto makers install after the year 2000, to track the american populace. You cannot "police" a society you can't identify...

I've been re-thinking this...........maybe there really is an alien from planet Zeptar and he lives in that little house. He has his own gravity machine and that keeps him from flying around when your mom drives!
