i was wondering if this is a good choice or if there is anything bigger i can go with i would also like to know if any one knows the specs on the stock bump stick for l21 and for ls6. what is the limit in lift and duration i can go before i have piston to valve clearance? any help will be appreciated. thanks

my bad I only hit one of your questions. here are the specs to the Zo6 cams:
2001 LS6 cam
207/217 int/exh @ 0.05" duration
0.525" / 0.525" int/exh lift
116 LSA
2002+ LS6 cam
204/218 int/exh @ 0.05" duration
0.551" / 0.547" int/exh lift
117 LSA
also, I suggest running a 112 or 114 lsa. the 115 sounds more like a custom grind cam. is this the case? What are the full specs of the cam that was suggested to you? What are your mods? What are your goals w/this cam?
I have a Comp Cam 224/224 .581/.581 112lsa

THE CAM WAS DESIGHNED BY ROGER VINCI FROM VINCI HIGH PERFORMANCE IN ORLANDO FLORIDA HE SAID WITH HIS TUNE IS HAS A 60 HP GAIN OVER STOCK. I AM NOT SURE THAT I BELIEVE HIM. CRANE CAMS ALSO RECCOMENDED THIS CAM TO ME AND THEY TOLD ME NOT TO GO TOO LOW ON MY LSA BECAUSE LS1 NEEDS ALOT OF VACCUME TO WORK CORRECTLY THAT THE COMPUTER TUNING IS ALL BASED ON HIGH VACCUME NUMNBERS. I DON'T THINK I BELIEVE THAT EITHER. I WANT A CAM THAT WILL LOPE LIKE THE WORLD IS COMMING TO THE END AND WILL GIVE MY VIOLENT MID AND TOP END POWER I HAVE DYNATECH HEADERS 1 AND 7/8 PRIMARYS 3 AND 1/2 INCH COLLECTORS AND 4 INCH EXAUST. ITH HAS A SLP AIR LID O2 SIMS AND PRO 5.0 WITH A SHORT STICK. I AM PLANNING ON FROM 100 -300 HP OF NITROUS IN THE FUTURE THIS CAR SEES THE TRACK EVERY SO OFTEN BUT I RUN IT HARD ON THE STREET EVERY WEEKEND. I DON'T CARE ABOUT POWER BRAKES OR RPOUGH IDLE. I JUST NEED SOMETHING THAT IS GOING TO WORK I WAS ALSO THINKING ABOUT T-REX THANK YOU FOR ALL OF YOUR HELP

you will not have the lope you are looking for w/a 115lsa to the best of my knowledge, but that also depends at what RPM you tuned your car to idle at. Mine idles at 800rpm on the 112lsa and you can tell she isn't stock. Also, I believe you would want to run a higher lift (.600 range) to help achieve the lope and power you are wanting up high. Don't forget that w/the cam you will need to upgrade to an Ls2 timing chain, Ls6 oil pump, springs, spring bases, retainers and pushrods as well.
Here are the specs for the T-rex and new MS-4 cams respectively:
T-REX: 242/248 .608 .612 WITH A 111 LSA ONLY
MS4: 239/242 .649 .609 WITH 112 OR 111 LSA
Also check out this link it may help you, or not, but never hurts to have the knowledge: http://ls1.com/forums/showthread.php?t=27007Last edited by SSwt00SS; 09-19-2006 at 01:31 PM.

You won't even be able to hear that cam. Why would you be thinking about that cam or the T Rex? Two complete opposite ends of the spectrum. Doesn't seem like you have put much thought into this.

ok guys cool it off. Everyone needs a place to start. I've heard of Vinci and I haven't heard anything bad. Crane has seen some nice gains with their setups. I run a reverse split 230/224 cam .575/.565 on a 110 lsa and believe me it is choppy as hell. Crane knows what they are talking about with the vacuum. I run a comp cam vacuum booster because at idle, the car would be rough and idle would fluctuate. When I'd tap the brakes, the idle would with surge or die even after a speed density tune. The higher LSA has a smoother idle, 112-114 is still nice and choppy and 115, you can tell. Based on your lift, that cam doesn't have much breathing room and that's where I'd question the Vinci Cam. Bigger, you make good power but sacrifice a lot of driveability. By have a nice lift and a higher LSA between 114 and 116 you can see some nice number. I'm actually about to change cams because of the turbo setup with a big exhaust and intake lift to feed the turbo but on a 115 LSA. LSA is the duration in degrees of valve overlap hence, the lope in a cam idle. I amde 500rwhp on a high comp motor and stage 2 heads with my cam, but it is the heart of the motor, so do a lot of research in your choice and not just jump onto a T rex or MS4. I personally would have gotten a T rex and made gobs of power, but ultimately it's not my goal. I'm changing cams so that should give you a hint. I love my cam yes, but I'm tired of having to fight her in the morning to keep it alive till she warms up, a surge once in a while from the excess vacuum from the canister. My idle spikes and holds at 1300-1500 and drops back down to 1000. Yes it's annoying

I currently run the Vinci 056 cam, smaller than the one you are looking at. I had headers when I put it on and a tune. After installation and 1.8 Crane rockers, I picked up 40hp. 60 hp going from the stock cam may be within the realm of possibility. In very general terms, the Vinci cams will provide better bottom end and a flatter torque curve from what I have seen. Your idle will be better with the 115 LSA. What I didn't see mentioned was the advance, and I believe this cam had 5* of advance ground in so it pushes the power lower. You will have lower peak HP compared to some of the other cams mentioned, but the car behavior will be better. The valve train will also be under a lot less stress. It won't lope, and even though it sounds cool on someone else car, it get old real fast. You really need to decide how you want the car to behave. Someone on another forum put in the XXX cam and removed my cam. He didn't pick up much on top, but he did pick up 40 hp at 4K RPM.

you'll be surprised at what that cam will produce. we really need to know what your setup is/will be.
here's a sound clip of it in vinci's C6 test car. don't know about you, but i hear a lope. http://www.vincihighperformance.com/...s/DSCF0152.wmvCold Air Intake, Muffler Delete, Vinci High Performance Dual Valve Springs, Hardened Pushrods, Yella Terra 1.85 Rockers, Some Hydropdipped Stuff, Strut Tower Brace, Some SS Badges, boost/vacuum gauge, fuel pressure gauge, some checkered stripes, drilled/slotted rotors, ZL1addons Stealth wickerbill, Ruxifey LED side markers

the cam is ground 5* advanced with an overlap of 57*.
here's the cam i had in the wife's car
Vinci 062
DUR @ .004" 272*/280*
DUR @ .050" 210*/218*
LIFT .551 / .551
OVERLAP 52*
LSA 112*
here's what it sounded like and it has less overlap than the xxx cam.
rev in park
idle in park
idle in driveLast edited by mrr23; 09-21-2006 at 02:15 PM.
