Cam Choice Opinion
Your opinion on a Comp Cam 218/218 duration 0.527/0.527 114 +4. I have one available to me but would like to hear your thoughts for a DD.

Personally, waaaaay to small. If you are going to go through the trouble of a cam change you should get a bigger one. there are lots out there that are proven great daily drivers and make some niiiice power.
The Texas Speed &Perf. TR224 and 228R
Frutural, has a couple like the F13 and/or F14....I forget about their #'s but the make great street cams
LG Motorsport Cams , they have their "GX" cams that are good...
and so on.
There are alot of ?'s you have to ask yourself b4 you get one, like are you going to do heads? Change gears? Do you want more low end torque or a nice even curve?....etc

I will watch
Cam only with B Hive springs and new chain is all I ever plan for the car + my bolt-ons. Based on the stock cam numbers of 202/210 0.496/0.496 & 116 LSA I was hoping this cam would make power over the stock and remain conservative without rattling the windows. You are correct IMO if it won't make power look for a larger one. I will watch this post and make a decision before paying for installation. Thanks for the input

Don't waste your time with that cam, I went .580 lift and would go no smaller than that I think I got lucky my heads must just match really well with it or just flow really well. I think I could have gone a little bigger and still been easily driveable.

Aren't these spec's pretty close to what I am considering in my previous post? 218/218 527/527 @ 0.050 Lift not as high but duration appears to be if I am reading this stuff correct.

a cam like the first one will make around 20 rwhp more. i did a vinci 062 cam 210/218 .551/.551 112 LSA in the wife's car. picked up 20 rwhp and 40 rwtq.
lift has a minor effect on hp. duration and LSA make the most difference.Cold Air Intake, Muffler Delete, Vinci High Performance Dual Valve Springs, Hardened Pushrods, Yella Terra 1.85 Rockers, Some Hydropdipped Stuff, Strut Tower Brace, Some SS Badges, boost/vacuum gauge, fuel pressure gauge, some checkered stripes, drilled/slotted rotors, ZL1addons Stealth wickerbill, Ruxifey LED side markers

Definitely a very mild cam, it will give you hp over stock but not a whole lot, cam swap is not an easy task. That is why most people try to go a little bigger and get a bigger gain, most people are not satisfied with their first swap and go bigger anyway. I would say anything around 230 or under for duration and 114-112 LSA and it shouldnt rattle you to death while idling. I know of a couple guys with the TR224 (224/224 .563/.563 112LSA) and it sounds nice and lopey but doesnt shake much at all. Honestly a 224 cam is pretty mild so a 218 is even more tame. I personally was looking at a 224 or a 228 cam for my DD.

the window rattling is the over lap. go to a cam that is bigger. it worth the time you spend installing it. go to a 228-228-114 Get a mild tune you will like it.
