Help me with my set up..
Hello everybody.
I am working on my project car and would like some advice on what to do. I have a 73 Datsun 240Z that I am putting a 98 LS1 6 speed in for street/road racing events. I have the swap and I am looking at playing with the engine for a little more power before I install it. I have been reading about all the cams and intake for this engine. I would like around 400hp without having to turn the motor to hard. The track events have me pushing the motor for about 30 min at a time.
Thanks,

You talking about 400 horses at the crank or 400 at the pavement?
400 at the crank is bolt-ons. The best way to 400 at the pavement is heads and cam.

here's my setup that is over 400rwhp:
SLP Lid, SLP Bellow, Ls6 Oil Pump, Ls2 Timing Chain, Patriot Ls6 Style Stage II Heads (59cc), Comp 224/224 .581/.581 @112 lsa, Ls6 Intake, LT's/ORY, SLP LM cat-back, HP Tune...
You can pass on the heads (if you want too) and go to a bigger cam such as the TSP Torquer V2 cam:

If you do, you need to upgrade your springs to dual springs, pushrods, bases, retainers. that would get you close to the 400rwhp mark, but an underdrive pulley, and a ported TB will help you there as well...2018 CTS-V: °°668rwhp/658rwtq°°
2013 ZL1: °°590rwhp/576rwtq°°

You need to get a LS6 intake and have your 98 TB ported and polished. TSP LS6 Stage 1s are like bolting on 40+ hp across the board combined with a Torquer V2 will put you right at 400 rwhp, if your running long tubes. 98s are nortorious for spinning rod bearing because of their whimpy rod bolts. And the 98 heads just suck. Definately worth the upgrade to a set of 243 heads and all joking aside while its out of the car put in a set of ARPs rod bolts for peace of mind if nothing else. The head/cam combo above put me down the track at 12.01 and thats like in a 3700# car..
