Another brake question.. AGAIN

HELP ASAP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

After replacing the front rotors and pads i noticed that the pins on the bottom of the caliper bracket( the guidepin near the road) either dont move or they are heatwelded in place..
I cant find new brackets anywhere and I need them before they mess up my new components.

you checked at the autoparts stores around? They should at least be able to order them for you. I found the rears at advanced autos website. They had the caliper with bracket for $66 but if you hunt around I'm sure you can find just the bracket. I also wouldn't drive that car until you get those pins fixed. It will ruin your pads in a hurry. Sometimes you can heat it with a torch and get it broke free and just replace the pins but that's a crap shoot usually. The last set I did wouldn't come out period. Might wanna swing up to a garage and see if they can get 'em broke loose. Those guys do that for a living so most have a trick of some sort for just about everything.

I used a torch and it just set the grease on fire in the good guidepin. work is 1/8 mile away anyway. my dad is 25 year ASE master certfied/ gm master technician and he just said im fudged. lol. I found a pair of calipers and brackets on ebay. Guarenteed to be freemoving. 85 bucks for both driver and passenger caliper and bracket.. W00t.

yeah, those pins are a pain to get out and it's normally just hit or miss if you can get them out at all. Sounds like you got a pretty decent deal on those. Glad you're getting it all worked out.

I plan on replacing every brake component except for the calipers themselves. Going fast and all is cool but I think stopping power is something thats overlooked until after its too late.

NAPA has the bracket/pin kit. The problem is caused when brake jobs are done they do not pull the pins and grease them. Be sure to do this with the new ones. I dont remember the cost but it was not expensive. I had the same problem !
