Octane boosters do not work. Sarge will back me up on that I think...

Might have knock sensor issues maybe???

I would get ahold of the Moderator Sarge.. he can probably help.

I'm not familiar with your car or mods done to it, but have you bumped your compression up or advanced your timing?
I do know your 98 octane eqauls around only 89-91 octane here in the US. do you have any race fuel on the rating of 105+unleaded octance on your scale avalible in your area?

if its a ls1..then the pinging your hearing might also be "slapping" referring to piston slap..but PS stops once the car warms up

the bottom line is more info is needed. Any mods done to the car and when does it ping? Those 2 will help quite a bit. 89-91 octane is pretty low. I'm not familiar with the octane conversions and didn't even know there was a difference between your ratings and ours but I'll take mark's word that it converts to that.

g'day guys i know i was vague with my answer. My motor has been mafless tuned and a pacemaker 4 into 1 extractors and 2.5" pipes with high flow cats and mufflers. The noise starts around 5000 rpm and makes a noise similar too pinging but the pulling speed doesnt change. I hope this helps

do you have access to a data logger so you can log knock? That will tell you a lot. Who tuned your car? Reputable shop? Has your AFR been verified using a wideband?

I was thinking with the mafless tune he could be going lean up top depending on who tuned it and how familiar they are with mafless tuning.

true, my fuel does spike and go level around 4,000 rpm.....you might be on to something there.

i am running an SD tune in mine.....one of these days il learn enough to tune the MAF to run just as good as MAFless lol

Are you sure it's pinging? I was certain my was pinging until I got a laptop connected and saw that no timing was being pulled (while the noise was occuring). My problem turned out to "shifter buzz" coupled amplified by an ashtray full of change:-)
