easiest to maintain TTM's: black or chrome?

    I'm thinking of buying a set of American Racing TT M's in 17 x 9 front and 17 x 10.5 back.

I have a dark blue 1999 Z28. I hesitate between the black wheels with machined lip or the chrome wheels.

Which of the 2 is easier to clean and maintain? This car is my daily driver and the weather here is bad. I've read somewhere that sometimes water stains can be a pain to remove on some finishes, I don't want to spend all my time polishing my wheels!

Also, is the chrome on the American Racing wheels of good quality? I'd rather not have a shitty chrome that peels off like on the stock Z28 wheels.

Stains isn't what you have to worry about with chrome. The bubbling finish is. And it WILL bubble.

I hate chrome wheels for that fact. If it's a DD don't get chrome.

Thanks for your reply - much appreciated. I was gonna go for chrome, but if it's gonna bubble again (my car is a daily driver) then I'd rather go for black/ machined aluminum.

Yeah, if you have very high humidy, alot of rain, or pretty much any snow Chrome is a bad idea. I like silver wheels better than chrom 90 percent of the time anyway.

Are you kidding? I had Chrome Smoothie II's on my '55 Bel-Air and it was my daily driver, rain, sleet, snow for 4 years until I sold it. Never bubbled, and the current owner still has them on his car. What urban legend are you guys following? They are also easier to clean than anything else.
