If this was in a real court that may be the case, but Judge Judy is a tv show depicting binding arbitration not civil court.

Everyone that appears on this show is guaranteed a certain amount of money from which the "awards" are subtracted and they are given the rest. The fat broad in the video will not be out of pocket any cash and the hot mom and daughter will get their money because it will be paid by the producers of the show.

From what I have read elsewhere, to build on what gwballin said, both the plaintiff and the defendant start out getting paid $5,000 each for being on the show. That is why she ruled for $5,000, way more than the cost of the items in question. In doing that, she ensured that the POS person receives nothing for being on the show. OWNED

But on the other hand Judge Judy is dumb old cow, and the dumbasses should have read the entire auction. I've had trouble with people just looking at pictures instead of reading the auction, even when it's a short description. They're just effin lazy and a lot of time bidding goes according to how pretty your pictures are.
