did he really write you up for 85 in a 55? most of the time they just write you up for doing 10 over (65 in this case), even if you were going 85.
you should get a mod to move this thread to AAG for better feedback.

Yep, get a lawyer. Not worth fighting, they might have been using helicopters or photos and you could've been averaging 85... just my $.02

My life is a- Ben Stiller movie.
take it to court. skip the first court date [fake being sick] skip the second court date [you had car trouble]. go to the third date and plea not guilty [at this time, the cop will have totally forgotten the issue.] Ask to ammend it to "improper equipment" [same fine, just no points]. If they dont agree, tell them you'd like to take driver's school to avoid the points.

Get a lawyer and they will get you deferred adjudication. Cost like $100 bucks.

If you were going down the I-5 out of LA ... The Grapevine ... the long long corridor where you have to break all the way down .. forget it .. it's a speed trap to fund that crappy little county.
However I talked to a young lady who is a clerk for that county and she let me slide for $35.00.

Black, Black- 2011 "Generic" Gasser
Don't feel bad, my buddy got bagged by a Statey a few weeks ago doing 113 in a 45 on the Newport Bridge.
Cop wrote him up as that and let him go! I can't believe the cop didn't tow and arrest him on the spot!

First?
See that button to the right of the 'm'? It's a comma. The one next to THAT one is a period. Learn to use them.
Second?
The cop wrote 85 because that's what he clocked you at with his radar. Why didn't you think to ASK him how he clocked you at 85? You would have had your answer right there.
Third?
Get your speedo calibrated. All sorts of factors add up to give an incorrect reading on your speedo.
