    timing chain= cam swap

i need to replace my stock water pump currently it is ticking the car doesnt overheat or react differently ...i believe that it might be running a little rich due to the pump gear possibly being screwed up

if i change the water pump most likely while shes apart i most likely will change the opti and timing chain......

to change the timing chain i heard that the cam gear will not work with the timing set and i will have to get a new camshaft because the gear cannot be removed or something of that nature

ive never really thought that it would need a new cam but i was hopin someone can enlighten me on here ....and worse comes to worse i throw a cam in

You don't need a new cam to swap a timing set out, the LT1 timing set has the gear for the water pump drive on the back of the cam gear. I just got through doing a cam swap in my LT1 so I can tell you that from experience. It would be a good time to throw in a cam though since you'll have it all apart.
