I joined back in Sept. 06 and have never posted before. I have a 1950 Chev Belair 2dr hardtop that won 2004 MSRA Custom of the year. I had a 406 small block with a 700r4 trans in it until I made the mistake of driving a friends new Corvette last year. I LOVED the car but really liked the LS1! I found a 2002 LS1 and 4L60E with 30k miles on it. I bought it and put it in my car swapping out the 406 and trans. Unfortunately living in Minnesota we have had a lot of snow and I have not been able to drive it. The weather is improving and I think we will finally start our melt down so I can do more than start it in the garage. I think I will really like the LS1. The 406 got about 14 mpg and this should get about 25 mpg. The other thing is that the 406 idled with a heavy lope, to the point of shaking the windows at a stop light. The LS1 runs so smooth and has great throttle response.
