LS6 intake or FAST 78mm intake

Ok, I'm stuck. Current mods are in my sig. I just took delivery of my MAC mid-tubes and ORY tuesday to get installed and I'm wondering if I should go with the the LS6 or the Fast 78mm for an intake. Obviously I can use my stock TB with both, but the Fast flows approx. 15% better than the LS6 (hence little more power and TQ?). Im not concerned w/cost as most LS6 intakes I see are going for about $400 and the Fast is around $650. My goal after install and tune of these parts and with the cam being able to breathe better on both ends is about 390-400rwhp.

What are some thoughts out there about each intake respectively? Thanks.

you have no need for the fast intake. if you had bigger cubes or a big cam, then i would suggest it.
the ls6 will work fine.
look for used ls6 manifolds, they can be had for 300

yeah I agree, I would not spend that much on the 78 Fast, If I was gonna spend that much Id just go ahead and go with the 90/90set-up. There is always a used LS6 intake for sale, I got mine for $50, so Id check around before Id buy a new LS6

big cubes calls for the 90mm, the 78 will work better than an LS6 on small/stock cubes.

on your motor you won't make use of the 78mm, you won't benefit much from it. Just go LS6

u can get away with the LS6 intake if u want low end but if u want top end get the fast 90mm,

The LS6 intake is worth the price of admission. For the money, it will improve performance and you can still use your stock TB. If you want to make gains above the LS6 intake, then go with the 90mm intake and TB. The 78mm is little or no improvement over the LS6 stuff. With your current set-up I recommend staying with the LS6. If you do more modifications, then think about the 90.

if you plan on getting a bigger cam later or better heads, then you should go with the fast 90/90. Again, you will gain top end, but sacrifice some lowend grunt for the fast setup. The LS6 intake isnt a bad intake and isnt that restrictive until you start getting heavily modded, but for a very mild cam only setup as yours, it should be plenty. The best advice I can give you is this: If this car is mainly a street car and sees the track every so often, then build it for the street and enjoy it those few times you take it to the track. Focus for power throughout the powerband. If its gonna be at the track more than anything, then focus on topend power. Bigger cam, intake, heads, rearend..and all that stuff that goes along with it.

thanks guys. the more i think about it, i really want more of a street car than strip. a good cruising car, that will take out most anything that comes my way. with all thats done and soon to be done to my car i'll be happy with 375rwhp for the time being.

I picked up a new LS6 intake over the weekend off Ebay, so I hope that it comes in about a week. then I will have the intake and the headers to get installed at once and then re-tuned. i will keep you all informed, and post numbers too!

sweet! The key is being honest with yourself on what the car is going to do. Then you mod Dont be dissapointed by your peak numbers. Look at area under the curve. thats what counts.

You can always sell the LS6 down the road for about $300 and that would make the 90/90 setup that much cheaper
