wheel size
Is it possible to put a 18 x 9 wheel with stock offset using a 265/40/18 tire on a stock suspension 2002ss. This will be going on the front or will there be rubbing issues. Thanks

no problem... but remember that the tire will be taller than stock.
ideally, you'd want 275/35-18 on them.Eugenio_SS
almost stock triple-black 2000 SS convertible with 17x11s on all 4 w/ 315s at the track or on the street with 18x10.5s on all 4 w/ 315s: (1), (2)

The reason I ask is I don't like the way a 35 series tire looks on a fbody unless the car is lowered. I don't want to lower the car since my neighborhood has speed bumps every 100ft or so. This would also let me by a small bit get rid of some of that 4 x 4 look. Still looking for any problems that would arise. Thanks

remember that the 35 is the percentage of wall height relative to tire width.
The overal diameter of a 17" w/ 275/40-17 is same as a 18" w/ 275/35-18
you are sacrificing 1" of tire wall for 1" of rim.
Having a 275/40-18 will have the same sidewall height, but the whole Overall Diameter would be increased by that 1"Last edited by mrr23; 12-14-2006 at 03:18 PM.

that's what he is wanting. to take up the fenderwell clearance between the tire and fenderwell. there may, or may not be rubbing at full lock.

I'd have to say that it will rub at full lock. I've got 255/35/18s on a 9.5" rim, and it rubs at full lock. Go to work on the fenders with a hammer and you can fix it, at least I could. I agree with the fender well gap though, I can't lower my car because of the conflict between LTs/Duals and SC roads, so I just stuffer 295/45/18s out back and I'm going to put 245/50/18s up front, then drop the front by 1-1.5". It's going to give the car a vintage slant to it, like it's got slicks on it, but I think it's the only option other than 2k worth of Air-bags and mediocre handling.
