    Mechanics inside

Having trouble with the daily driver. It's a 99 Saab 95. Its been surging at idle more noticable in very hot weather with the AC on. Sometimes it will stall. When it surges, you feel it, the tach increases with the surge. It wasn't doing it a lot, and only stalled 2-3 times over the course of 2-3 weeks. Sometimes if I was stuck at a light, I would drop it into neutral and it would stop.

Thought it might be the MAF sensor, so we took it out and cleaned it up. After we re-installed it, it's worse than ever. Now it starts surging as soon as I take it out of park and stalls almost immediately.

    Any ideas?

My Cutlass is the same way, but i know i need to rebuild the carb.

I think your problem is the car's a Saab.

My first guess was mass air meter, try the o2's if that doesn't work have your injectors cleaned, and if that doesn't work have it thrown on a diagnostic

Funny you mention that, at first it wasn't throwing a code, no light came on. But after we cleaned the MAF and put it back in, now the check engine light is on. Gonna drop it off to a friend/mechanic Sunday, just trying to get some guesses as to what it might be. My knowledge is limited and trying to collect all the info I can.

cleaning the mass air you could of messed up one of the wires in it, they are very thin.

Sounds like it might be a vacuum leak or (unmetered air)...

yeah i was thinking vacuum leak. i know on my toyota pickup even if the coolant isnt where its supposed to be it has a temp sensor somewhere in there and causes it to surge real bad. im not a mechanic and never even looked under the hood of a Saab but thats all i can think of
