Loose Steering
Hey All:
I have a 98 SS and am looking to see if anyone out there is experiencing this same problem and what they might have done to fix it.
I bought the car brand new in 98. a few years later ( i think when the warranty ran out) I noticed that the steering had changed in a manner which before it was very solid tight steering and now it feels like a 69 Cadillac. Very loose, senitive to steering. I can literally steering with one finger. Using one finger is excessive. Since the change, I've had the rack replaced and power steering resovoir repalced with no change. Can it maybe be in the steering column itself?
I've lived with it like this for many years and it needs to change.
Thoughts?
Thanks
Brett

Will you let me know if that helps, I have a 98 Z28 with same problem. Wondering if I should replace rack, and steering knuckle.
Would be great if I could just adjust what I have.

Didn't work
I think the solution mentioned in the other link is for another problem. I replaced the rack and everything is back to normal.

What size socket do I need for this? I wanted to adjust the preload today but the socket I got was to big. I got a 1 3/4 socket because I read somewhere online that was the size.
