To be a little more precise, I am sure the bore is 3.898 and the stroke is 3.622. Gm recommends the block can only be machined 0.010 inches. Just for info, if you have a 97 or 98 block, GM recommends the block can only be honed 0.004 inches.

I know if you go to gmperformanceparts.com/EngineShowcase/tech_specs.jsp?engId=LS6&engin
it will say 3.90X3.62 But thats not right according to every other Book, Magazine, or tech sheet I have ever read.

Does anyone know the reason for the different recommed honing/machining of the 97-98 and 99 and later blocks.

The early Blocks have thinner sleeves therefore they can't be honed as much.

The reality is the bore/stroke are 99mmx92mm....the entire engine is metric in dimensions. The "inch" dimensions are conversions.
