New engine - LS6 vs LS2
This is completely out of curiosity. Say for whatever reason, you get in an accident or whatever it may be, and you have to replace your LS1.
Instead of getting another LS1 and if money was not an option, which would you choose? ... Now I know I said money isn't a option, but a LS3 or a LS7 isn't an option. :P This is purely between 2 engines, and 2 engines only.
So which would you choose, and why please?
6.0 LS6

6.0 LS2

Just because I have never heard of the LS6 being anything other then a 5.7 I would go with the LS2 if you plan on doing mods the more cubes gives you an advantage.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/GM_LS_engine#LS6
The LS6 is a higher-output version of Chevrolet's small-block LS1 engine. It is an all-aluminum 5.7 L (346 in³) pushrod engine. The initial 2001 LS6 produced 385 hp (287 kW) and 385 ft·lbf (522 N·m), but the engine was modified for 2002 through 2004 to produce 405 hp (302 kW) and 400 ft·lbf (542 N·m) of torque. The LS6 was originally only used in the high-performance C5 Corvette Z06 model, with the Cadillac CTS V-Series getting the 400 hp engine later. The V-Series used the LS6 for two years before being replaced by the LS2 in 2006. For 2006, the Z06 replaced the LS6 with the new 7.0L LS7.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chevrol...tte_C5_Z06#LS6
For the 2002 model year, the LS6 was further refined and rated at 405 hp; this horsepower increase was achieved through deletion of two of the precatalytic converters in the exhaust system, improvements to the air induction system, and installation of high-lift camshafts along with a lightweight valve gear. Correspondingly, Z06 Corvettes produced from 2002 until 2004 displayed unique "405 HP" badges on both front fenders as a testament of the vehicle's engine power.
Hmm, I was sure they released a 6.0 LS6 for a few odd years, before switching over to the LS2 but I guess I'm wrong. There's a lot of mixed information about it. So this is how they got the power from the 5.7? I stand wrong then.

The LS6 is a 5.7L. The power is increased with some valvetrain upgrades.

The LS6 was always a 5.7L/346 CI motor. It would be more advantageous to go with the LS2 simply because you would have more cubes to use, but the LS6 would be more compatible with sensors, wiring harness etc. FWIW, I would not go with either original option you listed, I would opt for a 402 LS2 or wait and see what the LS3 brings out.

I voted for the Ls2 just for the fact of more cubes, which is an old school way of thinking I guess.

ls2 for me. ls2 has almost the same performance figures as the ls6. larger displacement means more hp down the road.
