starter mods (new to the site)
First off I am new to this site. I have a 2001 Trans Am ram air WS6 w/ 6 speed 17k miles. only mod is a borla exhaust. i am wanting to slowly but surely supe it up just a tad.... i was wondering what some of the first mods most people would do. Not wanting a drag car, just a fairly hot better than the other guys street car that gets driven when its nice outside. in the distant future a cam and headers will be going in. all help would be appreciated!!!!

Go with a Lid, Headers, free mods, Sub frame connectors then get a good cam then heads and you will be more then set. Maybe tires and rear end gears go with 3.73 since you dont want full on race car.

Pewter metallic- 2000 Camaro SS
Since it is a 6-speed(M6) and if it were mine, this is how it would be modded:
1. Lid
2. Sub frame connectors
3. Pro 5.0 with a short throw
4. Upgraded clutch
5. Headers & y-pipe
6. Lower control arms
7. Cam and underdrive pulley
8. 12 bolt
You already have an LS6 intake since you are on '01 model. The 12 bolt would be optional for you, its expensive and might not be necessary for your goals. It is very easy for M6 cars to break the stock 10 bolt though, even with zero to very little mods. Depending on your goals, I would personally do a 12 bolt higher up on the list. I am a firm believer in building the car to handle the power before throwing the power at it though. Good luck with your mods though

Subframe connectors strengthing the chassis, reduce car rattle and t-top rattle, makes the car feel stronger when you drive and yes lid is like the slp lid.

LS1 cars get tuned via laptop and software.
No chips.[/QUOTE]
ok.... im not saying you are wrong by any means but maybe we got confused when i said chip instead of programmer... im pretty sure ive heard of ppl puttin the hypertech on the ls1's and i think i have seen them on internet stores. and if you dont mind what kind of sub frame connectors would be good for what i want?

UMI subframes.
Hypertech is a waste of money.
If you are going to get a programmer...drop the $$ for HPTuners.

1. Lid (all are about the same, MTI is a hair better, I got the SLP)
2. Exhaust (either headers & catback, or a true duals setup behind your stock manifolds will make about the same power)
3. Free mods (Cheap if you do them yourself port & polish the throttle body see pics here http://www.phantomss.com/camaro/portedtb/index.shtml , grind bump stop http://joshker99.home.comcast.net/tbmod.htm )
4. SFCs
5. Better tires with more traction (Like the Eagle F1 GS-D3)
6. HPTuners
The above changes will make you very happy. You can always change the camshaft for more power if/when the above mods are completed. You may consider removing the second baffle in your hood. It's rivited in, and can be removed in couple minutes. I suggest leaving the front one for rain protection. Performing a coolant bypass http://www.installuniversity.com/ins.../tb_bypass.htm will add a couple HP if you don't drive in a lot of snow/freezing rain. HPTuners, must have.

Navy Blue Metallic- '02 Trans Am WS6
This is my mod list in order of what I want/have done to my 02 WS6.
1. SLP Air Lid
2. K&N Filter
3. Pro 5.0 Shifter
4. MSD Plug Wires and NGK TR55 Plugs
5. Corsa Cat-Back (Your Borla is just as good, bout a $1,000 mod)
6. Kooks Stainless Long Tube Headers and Off-Road Y-Pipe
7. Granatelli MAF Sensor (guys are gonna rag on me for that, but I need a new one anyways.
8. SLP Cold Air kit and Smooth Bellows
9. Ported Throttle Body
10. QA1 Double Adjustable Shocks (Koni's are great too, Bilstein if you dont lower it)
11. Eibach Pro-Kit Lowering Springs
12. Energy Suspension Hyper-Flex Bushing kit (I need this cuz I got some mies on it, but it also help the car react way better)
13. Baer Brake Rotor kit w/ Hawk pads (Gonna polish the stock calipers)
14. Hotchkis Shock Tower Brace
15. Hotchkis Front and Rear Sway Bars
16. LG Motorsports Rear Control Arm Relocation Brackets
17. Mezier Cooling System (Radiator, fan, water pump. Cars with body kits need a better cooling system due to that lack of air, Plus its lighter)
18. LG Motor Sports Adjustable Upper A-Arms
19. Granatelli MS K-Member
20. Carbon Fiber Drive Shaft
21. Moser 12-Bolt Rear End with 4.10 Gears and Eaton Posi
22. T-56 Rebuilds Stage 4 Transmission
23. Zoom High Performance Kevlar Clutch w/ Billet Aluminum Flywheel
24. Comp Cams 1.8 Ratio Shaft Rockers
25. Comp Cams Hi-Tech Pushrods
26. Comp Cams .580 Lift Hyd Roller Cam
27. LS2 Timing Chain
28. Trick Flow Assembled Heads
29. Weiand Intake (Ported and Polished)
30. Nick Williams 90mm Throttle Body
I'm also gonna throw an engine rebuild in there somewhere, with the best ARP Bolts in everything and some good gaskets. My belief is to make the car sound good first, then make it hook up, then lighten it, then add some power. Dyno tune your car after every couple of engine mods so you can get maximum performance. Good luck man and enjoy your new ride.

HP Tuners FTW! but i wood recomend you spend some time on their website and see people tuning b4 u buy it. Way to many tables, graphs, setting etc... you can screw up and if you dont know what ur doing ur car might not start. By the way if ur gonna get headers i suggest u do the plugs then. Your car doesnt have many miles on it so when ur swapping headers do the plugs and wires since ull have everything down.
