    Replace or rebuild???

I just blew up the LS1 in my car yesterday. I'm pretty sure that it slung a rod. My problem now is that I don't know which would be cheaper, rebuild my motor or just replace it. It was still running when I had it towed, but it was spitting oil and small flakes of metal out the tailpipe. So, there's no telling what all will need to be fixed in there. I've got a guy who will sell me a barely used (approx. 50 miles verified) stock LS1 for 2 grand. What do ya'll think?

I would replace it with a forged engine.

I would if my budget would allow. Just found out a few weeks ago my wife is pregnant with our first, so money is an issue...

what kind of prices? any recommendations on a specific builder? I'm thinking of throwing heads and a cam at this used motor. Looking for around 400-450 rwhp, daily driver.

Stay away from the SLP blocks...they got issues....
You should be able to build out a nice forged stroker motor complete for around $5K.
This is my signature. It is mine. Nobody else has one like it.

Thanks for the advice guys. Decided to go with a GMMG take out long block. Can't afford a forged motor, but this one should put about 400 to the rear. That is until I get the money to change the cyl. heads anyway! But, thx again!
