when I put wheels on my car, every place said i couldn't get wider than 8.5 in the front, why? i've heard of plenty of our kind of cars having wider....

Ditto.
I run 315's on all four, and most people do not see how I am runing them with no rub. Its all in the offest and wheel sizing.
I run 17x10 on all four corners with only a little extra offset. I shimmed the frontside of the front wheel liner 1" and no rub.
I will see about posting it up in the wheel picture thread.
With 17x9.5 I recommend a 285/40R17 up front. or with 17x9= 275/40R17 , those sizes to wheels just fit better and even protect the rim a tad from the incidental curb bump..

Pewter metallic- 2000 Camaro SS
I am buying a set of CCWs in 2-3 weeks myself. Probably going with 18s, but have been debating on getting 18x8.5s up front or 18x10s myself. Did you have to do anything for the fronts to fit 10s or just get the correct offset? I have BMR springs, so I am not dropped quite as much as you are. Are you running any spacers up front?
Thanks for any tips you got for me.

Thanks for the compliments...I made no modifications to the front and I am not using spacers. However, before I had these wheels I had Z06 rims and they helped wear the inner fenders alittle. Even in the back, I made no modifications and they only rub when I have people in the back and punch it around a turn. To cure this I took the back seats out...
