Is is really that hard to do true duals

Hi. I went to the exhaust shop today to talk about putting true duals on my car. It is an 01 ws6. When I got there the guy asked me what car I had and what year it was. When I told him he gave me this real big sigh and asked me what I wanted to do. When I said true dual he immediately told me no that I was screwed and that he would not do them nor would any other exhaust shop, and if they did they would completely mess up the car.

I had plannned to do LT's, no cats, an h-pipe, flomaster 1-chambers out the back. This was going to be under the axle all with 2.5 inch piping. He didn't let me tell him any of this he just immediately said no and then tried to tell me that you can't fit mufflers under these cars and that he would have nowhere to hang the exhaust that there was no room to put the pipes and that it was to hard to hang them under the car. I got the feeling either this guy was really lazy or he didn't know anything about f-bodies because he then told me I would see no gain with headers over manifolds because the car was electronically tuned. Also some other kid in my town has a z28 and had this shop put on a slp loudmouth 2. He told me I should get that because it was high dollar, top-of-the-line stuff and that I couldn't get any better than an slp system.

Sorry for the long post, but is it really that hard to put exhaust on f-bodies or is this guy just lazy and not really know too much about trans-ams.

Your best bet is to get a true dual setup from one of the sponsers(forget which ones have them). If you go to a local shop its going to suck at least all the ones I've seen. You can get the kit welded locally but I would have them bend/make all the piping just buy one of the true dual setups and be done with it.

i use the bassani tru-duals on both cars. originally designed for stock manifolds and cats, but minor work and it'll hook to headers.

its not that hard to do your own True duals. I am doing my own this weekend. Sounds like you want to do the same setup that i am doing. I am running and h pipe under the axle with 1 chamber flows. ill let you know how it goes. i bought a pipe set from jegs.
