With blown cats your car should be running like shit. If nothing else pull the y pipe down and gut em, but if they are clogged they are really hurting performance.

I say it's time to put the test pipes on. If they are clogged your manifolds will glow red from the heat and you can melt stuff and you'll lose races to ricers. If the internal crap just blew out the tail pipe then your good for now.

I agree. Run pipes or gut'em and delete the rear o2s, trick them, or use sims. Don't run them if they're not functional. They will damage and overheat your motor eventually, causing poor fuel mix and excessive backpressure until then (which will cause a loss of power).

but it should throw codes and make ur car run like shit, cuz of the o2 sensors. get an o2 simulator, which tricks the sensors into thinkin everythings all fine and dandy, then ur car will run better.

Here's what I meant by tricking the rear o2s: http://www.srtforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=93604 . Best to tune them out, but this will work until then...

ya i got some sims from LS1Speed for my last 98 Z28...
    They worked off and on.
my SES light would come on when i floored it.
or at any other random times, the sims didnt work for crap.

    Total waste of $$$$$.

Get the tune and they'll cut out O2 Sensor readings for free at most places.

    Question What should i do?

since its not good to run the cats like i have been...what should i do buy high flows cats or... just get headers with catted y pipe and if i go this route what are the best headers that come with a catted y or what would be the best set-up if i were to buy the LT's then buy the catted y separate? Sorry for not responding quicker been a bit busy with school

Sims can fail, tuning them out works forever. There are numerous people who have never been able to get sims to work on their cars. Some have no problems with them. Fact is, they're just another part that can fail.

A matter of opinion, and your budget.

If you don't have to pass emmisions and don't mind your exhaust smelling worse, you can pick up 7-10rwhp by not running cats. You'll have to get your rear o2 sensors tuned out or trick them to keep from setting a SES light. I ran high flow cats to keep my exhaust a bit quieter.

If you have the money, true duals are the way to go. They're more expensive, but make a lot more power than a catback type setup. Of all my mods so far, the one I enjoyed best was my Bassani true duals. They cost me $779, but the gains were well worth it. I added Pacesetter headers later, but they didn't seem to make the power difference the Bassani duals did. Here is a Bassani clip I made right after installation (hence the smoke from the anti-sieze burning off). http://s217.photobucket.com/albums/c...nt=Bassani.flv They are a bit lower in tone than the stock exhaust, and sound great at WOT.

You could also just buy headers with the ORY as suggested above and keep your stock catback until you get the money to add a catback. You could then decide whether to go duals or catback after the headers.

It's all a matter of opinion, yours.

oem cats list at over $400 a piece. if you got the dealer to replace them for free then pulled them off imediatly sold them on ebay it could help alot on buying headers.
