How to delete threads I've started

How do I delete a thread I started, i.e. several "for sale" threads that are now outdated?

Also, I do I delete uploaded picture files to free up memory space so I can upload new pics?

Users cannot delete a thread. You have to contact a Moderator to do it for you.

And yes every user has a limited amount of space to attach images. If you go to your UserCP, you can see all your attachments.
