cleaning aftermarket rims

I just ordered a set of dale earnhardt jr. killers. They are the black ones with the polished lip. I was just curious on how i should go about cleaning them when the time comes. I don't want to mess up the clear coat on them. Also would the use of a polish and wax be a good idea on the rims?

nothing.... anyone. I really don't want to use a rim cleaner and risk screwing up the clear. And i wasn't sure if wax would be a good idea because there is a lot of heat that is generated by the brakes. Any input would be awesome!

Personally, I am NOT a fan of the rim cleaners out there-especially those harsh "don't leave on for more than 20 seconds or else it'll eat half your rim off" kinds with strong chemicals. Rather, when washing the car, simply use the same car soap on your tires & rims. Then, clean the wheels with a brush specifically designed for rims...they have soft feather bristles that won't scratch on the front & a rubber bumper guard on the back. The bumper guard works great when you're scrubbing the small spaces in your wheels, if the back of the brush hits the wheels there's no damage done. These brushes are easy to come by too & inexpensive-at Walmart, they are less than 3 bucks!!!

Then, once they are completely clean & looking nice, use a good wheel polish to maintain & enhance that great look! I use Mothers Chrome Polish & it works really well; when I was looking for a good polish, the Mothers stated specifically that it was safe for all types of chrome, including black chrome; I have black chrome wheels so this helped me make a decision!

thanks for the input. the rims are painted black so the chrome polish is a no go lol. I was more worried about putting wax on the rims more than anything. Here is a picture of them though:
