    500 horsepower

In the november issue of car craft they have an article on 500hp N/A engine combos. They say the LS1 can make 500hp with GMPP CNC ls6 heads, fast 90mm tb and intake, comp springs and pushrods, crane zcam hyd. roller 228/232 600/600, and kooks 1 3/4" headers. They don't have any numbers so I was wondering if this really makes 500hp, if so, is it streetable? They also mention nothing about the motors bottom end so I assume it is stock, but they do say the stock rods bolts are questionable over 6,800 rpm.

I realy doubt that a 500hp NA LS1 would be very streetable the idle would probably have to be set hi and intake vac probably wouldn't be strong enough for the brake booster. Allthough they do make elec vac pumps to offset that

from those mods i'm guessing that they mean 500hp at the flywheel. Which would be around 425rwhp. A heads/cam bolt on car is very streetable.

^^^^^Exactly what I was thinking. 500 RWHP on a stock cubed LS1 N/A can be done, but I would say it isn't at all streetable.

    Now...on the other hand....
I have an LSx 402 making 523 RWHP that I drive on the street all the time.

Yep. 500 Crank HP, entirely possible, not even that difficult, and definitely streetable. I'm sure that 500 RWHP is possible on Stock cubes too, but it's gonna be a fully-built, high compression motor.

So if you're going to fully build it, it would make more sense to install a stroker kit? Basically I'm looking to get 500 n/a hp with my stock block and be able to drive it anywhere. Is this impossible to do and still use pump gas?

    a little info

You are asking of the simple I would guess or the cheapest. Well no and yes. There are other combinations out there such as weiand blowers and nitrous that will give you that much power when you want it for shorter periods of time and still keep it streetable and emission freindly

I would have to say you would be on the ragged edge of streetability. And I think it would be very hard to do on pump gas. Your also talking about a boatload of money to make it reliable enough to drive anywhere.

so what about a high compression 383/396 combo w/ heads/cam 90/90 etc...with a good tune M6, 12 bolt, and 373s that should be streetable right? you can spray on a built bottom end or you could go forced induction..what about a forged STOCK CUBE bottom end h/c pkg and a procharger..lot less money involved and maby 500+ whp

You can spray a stock bottom end with a 150 wet shot no problem but he said he wanted to stay n/a. If he wants to spray he can go 600rwhp with h/c, 90/90, and supporting mods.

    Thanks for the info

If you will note, I was giving a generalized description of what cam specs might be and not exact figures. Just something that might help lead someone in the direction of a 500 - 600 horsepower motor using an NOS and or turbo or supercharger. Sometimes I will forget where I am because of the Morphine I take three times a day and might have posted this comment in the wrong section. However, Thanks For the info
