    broken header bolt

    buddy of mine has a gmc truck with the 6.0L in it....he was towing his trailer up some steep hills and heard a funny noise all of a sudden.....pulled the truck over..popped the hood....and noticed he broke the head off a header bolt....he was like wtf? as his truck is 100 percent stock...first how could this happen? overtourqed from the factory? truck is a 2002 i think...67k miles...second.....how is he gonnna get the broken stud out to replace it?? take the head off the side of the block and drill it out???? thanks

    if only the head of the bolt broke off, there will still be the stud part of it. remove the exhaust manifold and put a pair of vice grips on the remaining part of the bolt and turn it out.

    thats what i was thinking as well but u think it would be possible to get a good enough grip with vise grips???
