    1999 30th ann. Trans AM

    Need opinion on shifter

    I have a 99 Trans Am 30th ann. It comes with a Hurst shifter. The ex-owner cut it 3 inches off to make it shorter. Now I have got in other cars and there shifter seems less stiffer than mine. Should I put new one or leave it. I have missed 3rd in the shifting when racing but I think that's just me I think.

    factory shifter sucks, Hurst included!
    get yourself a B&M Ripper or a pro 5.0 with Lous short stick if you like the short shift look. guarantee you will never miss 3rd again..

    i had the same problem, at high RPM when i would jam it into third, it would either hit the shift fork or it would go into 5th.

    pro 5.0 here... I chopped my factory hurst as fas as it would go, then chopped it some more and welded it back together. It still sucked, with same 5th gear problem as above. I got the pro 5.0 then chopped the stick all the way down again.... I can flick it with my wrist to shift and never miss a gear.

    I use a Hurst Pro Billet, love it and glad I got it. Stick was way too tall so I got a Lou's Short stick. A good Combo is the Lous SS with a Pro 5.0
