    2002 Firehawk Exhaust

Hey guys, I hate to ask this as I'm sure it has been asked a billion times... I have searched forums upon forums and googled a ton but still can't get a good answer.

I have a 2002 Firehawk, stock everything except for K&N and Magnaflow muffler. My buddy has a 2002 WS6 with K&N and Flowmaster 80 series muffler.

The Magnaflow does sound good on my Hawk at WOT, but for standard driving, it is extremely quiet. The 80 series on his WS6 sounds great at idle, or normal daily driving acceleration. Has a wonderful V8 Amercian rumble all the way up to WOT. I loved the sound.

My question, with my Firehawk, I have the 3" inlet, so I'll need a different 80 series. I'm about to buy one to replace my Magnaflow, but the only thing holding me back is everyone saying Flowmaster robs horsepower. I am beginning to think people are just repeating what they heard, and truly do not know the facts. Has anyone here actually tried multiple systems on their LS1 Firehawk/WS6 and know for a fact the Flowmaster is a step backwards? (I plan on keeping the rest of my exhaust and cats stock)

Loudmouth is my other option, but I fear that is too crazy Harley motorcyle loud.

    Thank you,
    Nick D

As for the Loudmouth, it's more like a neutered trash truck sound than a straight pipe Harley.

I've never put a Blowmaster on anything, but from all the research I've done on the 80 series, it is a choke point for the exhaust. I highly doubt the same applies to their 40, 30, and 10 series mufflers though, as they have hardly anything in them to have to flow around.

DAMMIT, FLOWMASTER!!! MAKE A 40 SERIES F-BODY MUFFLER, DAMM YOU!!!

The cross-flow design just doesn't work as well with a flowmaster. All the internal chambers are smaller to accomodate the dual outlets on opposite sides.

If your car is stock save for the air filter and a muffler, I doubt you'll notice much difference. If you plan on adding more mods later, hold on to your magnaflow, especially if you are looking into headers or an off-road Y pipe.

Thanks, I guess I'll just spring for it. There are quite a few on eBay.
