My Car... The Aftermath
So here is me driving home from lunch with Chris after classes... minding my own business. I come up on the last intersection before my house and the light is red as I approach. It turns green as I am about 20 feet away I accelerate back to around 45 mph and proceed into the intersection only to be met by some old hag driving a Cadillac. She decided she had enough time to turn in front of me when I was in the cross walk before the intersection. I get on my breaks and turn hard right to try to avoid a head on collision. But to my dismay I am going to fast to stop within 5 feet. She and I collide and both my airbags deploy. My engine stops and I turn the key back as far as I can (later I find the ignition is fucked so my car wasn't off completely). I get out of my car and proceed to yell and the Cadillac (the driver was still inside the car) "YOU FUCKING BITCH! WHAT THE FUCK DID YOU DO!!!" Then I called the police and my mom... no one was hurt... other than some nice airbag bruises and burns for me along with some nasty headache that won't stop. But yeah... car is totaled... once I get an insurance guy out to look at it I plan to try to part it out as much as possible. I leave you with some pictures of what my car now looks like...

That sucks girl, i'm glad you are okay.
We face that problem here in colorado....People once they reach a specific age should be required by federal law to retest for their licenses and it would cut down on traffic accidents caused by older people that do not have the ablility to drive.

cant part it out, once its totaled the insurance company owns it, and they will pay you for it but you can buy it back , THEN part it out

glad that you are ok. sorry about your car, i know you had been wanting to mod her up a little. i hope the replacement or donor car gives you what you want. if they do total your car for you to get it back and part it out you will need to buy it back from your insurance company. let us know how it goes. again sorry to hear and see about your loss.

Just out of curiosity where did the lady hit you? I'm assuming it was almost a head on and that you spun or something cause I don't see her car anywhere near you and it looks like you hit her in the front and spun and got hit in the back too.

What a bummer. Sorry to hear the news. Hopefully you and your passenger will be alright. I agree that there needs to be a better way to get some of these "blue hairs" off the streets and stop endangering others. But the states know they're a huge cash cow so.....

it is a known fact old people cause more fatalities than young drivers. There is legislation goin on now on what to do, annual test after a certain age ?, bigger signs, more older people friendly roadways. My family told my dad not to drive anymore this summer. He is 79. It was hard. We felt like crap but now he is ok with it and he'll never be responsible for a crash or worse, never have to avoid making the wrong decision in a crisis while traveling on these fast California highways.
Anyways, sorry for the loss. Who do you use for insurance ?, hope you get the claim done quick.
