What's with you Midwesterners misusing the word "Anymore"???

    http://dictionary.reference.com/search?q=anymore

Well I guess since it's in the dictionary that means it's not totally wrong. I guess!

But seriously, this has to be the dumbest alternate usage of a word I have ever heard.

It's right up there with "fixin'"

"No offense, but I've just been fixin' to know what in tarnation is up with Y'all's grammar anymore!"

What's wrong with it? Seems to me that all those queers you guys live around might be influencing you.

In other words, the gays in San Francisco must be a heavy influence on the rest of the population anymore.

What's wrong with it is that it doesn't make sense and neither does your hateful homophobic moronic post. Especially since I'm from the NYC/NJ area and have only lived in CA for a few months. So proper grammar is a gay thing? How retarded can you get?

The dictionary definition clearly states that the STANDARD ENGLISH that most of the USA speaks does NOT use the word that way, so YOU'RE the oddball buddy!

What's wrong BillyT, no one to play with in the politics & debate section?

Here's a word for you; kwicherbichin.

It means life isn't fair and always good, so take it on the chin and remain quiet for the sake of others sanity.

Quite a large meaning for such a small word, eh?

    an•y•more P Pronunciation Key ( n -môr , -m r )
    adv.
    1.
    a. Any longer; at the present: Do they make this model anymore?
    b. From now on: We promised not to quarrel anymore.

    2. Chiefly Midland U.S. Nowadays.

Regional Note: In standard American English the word anymore is often found in negative sentences: They don't live here anymore. But anymore is widely used in regional American English in positive sentences with the meaning “nowadays”: “We use a gas stove anymore” (Oklahoma informant in DARE). Its use, which appears to be spreading, is centered in the South Midland and Midwestern states, as well as in the Western states that received settlers from those areas. The earliest recorded examples are from Northern Ireland, where the positive use of anymore still occurs.

    I'm not bitching! I'm laughing at Y'all!

When I lived in the north east I laughed at the people who had "Dawgs" and "Axed" me questions.

Now that I live on the West coast, I guess this is one of the main ones I've been laughing at anymore!

I just think its gay to bitch about the way words are used in certain areas when I'm sure there are at least a few you've picked up.

I doubt it. I speak perfectly spoken standard English the same as you'd hear on the news.

I just don't get how people can watch national news TV and don't even notice that they don't speak the same way the announcer who speaks Standard English does.

You would never hear that use of "Anymore" on CNN, just as you wouldn't here the announcer saying he's "fixin'" to give "ya'll" a weather update, nor would he "Axe" the meteorologist if it's going to rain Cats and "Dawgs".

One that I heard a lot back east from even my "well educated" friends was the word "irregardless".

Its almost as bad as mexicans who use "regardless" at the end of every sentence. (thanks Carlos Mencia)

For someone bitching about proper English and use of words it seems you're not so perfect yourself.

Oh wow, you found a typo! Do you really think that an occasional typo compares to actually speaking like a dope 100% of the time?

if you expect others to be perfect, why do you not expect that of yourself?
