Navy Blue Metallic- '00 Formy A4
Does a "NHRA Edition" have any value?
I've found 2 NHRA Edition Fornulas online, and both mention it in the ad as if it's a big deal. "1 of 97 made" Yippee, who cares.
I've seen the NHRA emblem package for sale on another website for 99 bucks, so the whole thing sounds like BS to me.
Was there ever an actual, official NHRA edition car? And if so, is it worth paying any more for?

Yes it was an actual factory car but they were only made on the standard T/A not one with the WS6 package.
And from what i've heard there's nothing special about them except for the badges but still there weren't very many made so i'm sure there worth more and hold there value really well.Pacesetter Headers- ORY

Yeah, the two I saw were Formulas. Personally, I think it's a little tacky, I'd have to take the badges off if I bought one.
Here's one:

I actually really like the look of the car, I'm just not sure it's a good enough deal to go all the way to IL to get it from RI.

Well if you took the badges off there would be no point in buying one. You might as well buy a standard formula for cheaper with out the package.

Assuming I COULD find another Formula. They're a little bit rare. If one I happen to like comes with some silly badges, well, I'll just have to deal with it.
Considering how it's just a few badges, I don't see how it could have any real value. Not like it comes with any performance mods, special wheels, or paint scheme or anything.

It has value because there weren't very many made even though it doesn't have any modifications to the engine/exhaust/suspenion.

dude youre making the NHRA badge out to be rice or something. taking the badges off wouldnt make any bit of sense. Just wait for another formula or get a ta if you really dont want a rare car... leave it for someone that wont deface it.

A Formula in itself is a pretty rare car, they never made alot of them.
Taking emblems off isn't defacing it, it seems like a pretty common mod here. I see lots of cars with emblems removed.
I was just trying to find out some info, if anyone knew if this was an official option from Pontiac.
EDIT:
Ok, did some googling, and found this:
2000 Trans Am NHRA Edition
According to Pontiac Historical services only 207 NHRA Firebirds were
built in 2000. Of that number only 110 were Trans Ams. The remaining
97 were Formulas.
NHRA Special Edition Formula and Trans Am (2000-2002) (It was a commemorative edition to celebrate the NHRA's 50 year anniversary (in 2001), and Pontiac being a major sponsor of the NHRA for many years. In 2000 there was a total of 215 NHRA Firebirds produced, of which 97 were Formulas. In 2001 there was only 145 produced and in 2002 there were 535 produced. The total number produced is 895. The rarest is a few Formula Convertable NHRA SE models with like maybe 15 of them. Basically it comes with PS cooler(which all '02's have now), GSC's on 16". The autos came with 3.23's and 6 speeds came with the default 3.42. Nothing really except for the really cool badges. You could only get NHRAs in white, black, pewter, or red. Also, when you ordered a Formula / Trans Am, you had a choice between the WS6 or NHRA package. It was either or, and they could not be combined. Pontiac has been the Official Car of the NHRA since Oldsmobile's departure as Official Car at the end of the 1995 Season. The NHRA option added $1,070 - $1,095 to the sticker price and included (but not limited to) the following: Hurst manual 6-speed (3.42 ratio) or automatic transmission (3.23 ratio), power-steering cooling, P245/50ZR16 performance tires, and NHRA-specific badges & keychain. The appeal of the 1SH option package (NHRA Special Edition) is parallel to the appeal of any "anniversary edition" car or "special pace car edition." It is a special designation to commemorate the NHRA drag racing series. The NHRA badges were made by Morgan Design Group.)
Ok, so you couldn't get a WS6 with this package, which was basically just a few emblems.
Personally, I think a WS6 is more desireable (to me at least). Now if only I could find a WS6 Formy I could afford.Last edited by StuntmanMike; 07-07-2007 at 01:44 PM.

To each their own...but if I had an NHRA car, it would have the badging.
Hell...my WS.6 has the badging on it and I don't have any plans for removing it.

taking off the side emblems (which every car has) is totally different then taking a special edition, anniversary, badge. I'm not meaning to jump down ur throat just voicing my opinion. Yes it was from the factory. Sure other people can buy the badge and put it on their car but their cars vin and options on the inside of the dont will not code for it. So really the ones ur looking at could actually be fake; most likey not but they could be. you just have to look for the option code to see if its a real one

To me that would be like buying a 35th aniv edition and repainting it just cause you don't like yellow.
or swapping the motor in a SD455 to a smaller engine cause it sucks gas.
But to each his own I guess.
That will just make one less.Last edited by Scanlamp; 07-07-2007 at 10:37 PM.

black- 2000 nhra edition formula
why would a person take off the badges on a limited edition car, it really doesnt make sense.
the badges is what sets the car apart. also the nhra package is the 1SH option code.2000 nhra edition formula
