    2001 trans am

    braided copper wire INSIDE the alternator? Help

    Im having some electrical problems abs,tcs lights on in dash and codes say possible elec. issue. I have a braidedcopper wire going into the alt. and was wonderif it is suppose to be there.

    what do you mean you have braided copper wire going into the alt? Yes, there is copper wire in your alt, and yes its supposed to be there(the alternator works by having magnets along the inside of the case, and spinning copper conduit, which creates electricity.) And you also have a cable that is bolted onto the alt for the battery. All that is normal. Your ABS light and TCS light have nothing to do with this. Maybe you have a bad wheel bearing?

    yeah,looked closer and it ataches at the top, found the problem to the tcs and abs inop light too, was a wire to the fog lamps the was corroded. Thanks
