Stop Error Windows XP
My computer has crashed twice from a stop error, the online diagnostic said its caused by an unknown driver, now the only drivers on my computer are my printer and thats it. My mouse is microsoft and it didnt need any software, so the question is
what device driver could be causeing this error?

Pretty much everything in your computer has a driver, not just stuff on the outside connected to it with wires.

If the system restore doesn't work....which is a very good idea by the way, your computer should have come with a CD for its drivers. U can use the CD to reinstall the hardware drivers. Also, external devices such as printers as noted earlier also have drivers. I know HP sends me updates for my printer.
Is it possible that you started to install some new hardware or an update and stopped before it was completed? If so, there is a way you can uninstall it.
Under your Local Disk, you can go to Add or Remove programs to select it for removal then reload it. I'm talking about something like digital camera software that you may have installed that has drivers.
Hmmmm....if the computer is brand new, it should still be under warranty and you can call for remote assistance.
Just a few ideas for ya. Good luck. Very frustrating I know.

It must be the HP driver. The HP stands for Heaping Pile of shit. You should check for conflicts/device errors in the Hardware manager.

If you don't have XP service pack 2 installed that might take care of it also.

right right but i mean, i havent modified any of these drivers, the only thing "driver wise" was my printer software install and that works fine
it hasnt crashed again, so maybe it was a fluke thing
i'll keep you all posted, if you have any more ideas tho feel free to post them up
