lady tried to commite suicide out side of my apratment...
as i go to pull in to my parking spot i see a white PT snoozer and a white lady standing of a black lady who was laying on the ground. so i went up and sked if i should call 911 and if every thing is ok...
here the lady slit her wrists and downed a shit load of assorted pills... several anti depressants and other crap... looked like she took 100 or so pills... she was breathing, but not awake... we dumped her purse to see if we could get some identifycation, and found a passport. she probably don't speak english so we had to have 911 have a translator ready at the hospital...
what a day... i'll see if they put it in my local news paper...

When I was a child delivering the local paper (which was overflowing with letters, papers, and flyers) I opened the door to see a (almost) two week old dead decaying corpse.
Not saving but I have saved three people (kids) from drowning and have to perform CPR to bring them back to life.
Does that count?

a few years ago my dad tryed to save some one who was havinga heart attack. the guy stopped breathing so he did CPR on the guy but he didn't make it... my dad came home with barf all over the side of his car and barfed a few more times at home... it made him pretty upset that he couldn't save the guy...

During our breaks usually every one cuts out side to buy food from the gut truck, this day I decided to go out to the back shop to work on my Snowmobile and while walking buy the mens room I heard some water running onto the floor, so I went to see what it was, and this older retired man (Howard) that worked for us part time was face down on the floor in a puddle of water that was covering his ability to breath, he was passed out, but later found out he had a heart attack. He just finish taken a shit and when he stood up he passed out or what ever and fell back wards into the toilet completely breaking the holding tank. I busted the stall door open and pulled him up and turned him over and yelled for someone to call 911. He eventually came to, but never really recovered. If I did my usual that day, he could have sucked in water once he started to come around. There was no one else around to hear me yell for several minutes. I was a little shaking afterwards.

any one else every have something like this happen?
I was visiting my stepfather when we both heard a lady screaming for help at the back of his townhome and we ran out the backdoor to see if we could help. There was this 450lb woman sitting on her ass with a bag of groceries in each arm screaming that she couldnt get up. We told her to let go of the groceries and we would help her up, christ we couldnt do it! We finally got her off the ground when two other peopled helped us.

I did CPR on a 85 year old frail lady that I only felt 1 beat of a pulse and wasn't breathing when I got to her house. The feeling of cracking of ribs during chest compressions and seeing shinney eyes with a hint of life turn to a dark lifeless stare leaves an image in your mind you will never forget. She didn't make it either. I still get upset when I think about that. That's when I decided not to be an EMT.
