It Wasn't the Opti After All...

A short while back I posted a thread about a problem with poor power and driveability I was having on my '93 Z28 titled "Lackluster LT1". The wierdest thing about it was that it would only have this problem sometimes, and somedays it would be fine as if the problem never existed. About 99% of the feedback I got put it all on the opti-spark. I mentioned that I thought it could possibly be a bad wire, but once again everything was pointed to the opti. I know the opti-spark is notorious for failing, and with 125k miles it would seem likely, but before I wen't out and dished my $300 on an Accel Opti 2, something told me to get underneath and take a look at the wires before I did so. When I took a peak underneath, I noticed the #8 spark plug wire was barely hanging on to the spark plug. It seems that whoever the previous owner had do the tune-up didn't do it correctly. Welp, after getting past that Y-pipe I put the wire on tightly and the car now runs excellent - like a totally different machine. I'm glad I wen't with my hunch and confirmed this first before I wasted my money on something I don't need, let alone can't afford right now!

I am glad it was something minor!

@boner ~ could you see the wires arcing with the hood up at night? That is the best way to check them.
