Can someone tell me if this is a real SS camaro?
Can someone tell me if this is a real SS camaro? I never saw an SS in that color before. I know the hood is not an ss hood but is that car a real ss?

Pewter metallic- 2000 Camaro SS
Pretty sure its a clone. You couldn't get the SS in that color and it has 16" wheels. Its either a clone or an aftermarket paint job, but the wheels, lack of power steering cooler and Z28 tips tend to tell me clone.
If its something you are interested in buying, ask for pictures of the RPO codes, look for WU8 to designate SS and ask for the VIN.

Without a doubt its a fake. Real SS's have the SS dash plaque. This car just says Camaro. Just another Z28 with an identity crisis.
But hey, Z28's need love too.

incorrect about the SS dash plaque, i know that it was only an option on the 98 ss's
to tell a true SS it will say WU8 on the code sticker on the driver's side door

Artic White- 00 SS Vert.
It is definately not a SS. I entered the V.I.N. at GMDealerworld. And I think the original color is Black.

In '00 the SS dash plaque was optional. Maroon was not available on SS in 2000 so if that the original color, it's a fake. As stated, look for the RPO code WU8. Aslo look for Y2Y. That will tell you if it had any SLP options.

Black- 1998 Z28
fake
whoever has owned older cars like GTO's, Chevelle and the like know that the only real way to tell if it is a fake or not is the vin number. Too bad that late model f bodies are already being cloned. 30 years from now it will be just like what is is now when you try to find an original GTO, SS, Trans AM etc.
