racing temperatures
This weekend is going to be 94° and probably humid as hell...is there anything i can do to help the car run well? I don't have an upgraded t-stat. Is it worth running in those conditions?

not really much you can do about it, it will be the humidity more then anything that will slow you down. About all you can do is swear at mother nature.

I would say drain your coolant and replace it with distilled water + Redline Water Wetter. You can replace the water with coolant when racing season is over.

can I find that at autozone or other local auto stores...damn, wish i knew about that stuff earlier in the summer. I'd be tempted to leave it in teh car through the winter since i don't drive it when it gets to be freezing out.

Here is a side by side comparison: http://www.turbomagazine.com/feature...t_results.html
I do like the fact that it doesn't foam, so for auto-X and Road Course duty it may be a better solution not that Water Wetter has ever let me down

just for future reference, the reason that all of these products, like RedLine Water Wetter, work, is because they all contain a surfactant. something to note about surfactants is that they cause an increase in the boiling point of the water because they increase the surface tension.
with that, i prefer to use drumroll . . . Dawn. concentrated dish soap is chock full of whichever surfactant the manufacturer prefers, and all you have to do is grab some from next to or under your sink. remember kids, a little bit goes a long way; an ounce or two is plenty for a large cooling system.
oh, and if you're not so cheap, the consumer products mentioned previously by myself and others are *supposed* to contain other chemical agents to slow/prevent corrosion and rust, just like good modern antifreeze.~Jason
