    Crank position sensor delete???

I have a '96 Firebird and recently encountered a SES code calling for a crank position sensor voltage out of range. Seems like it might be an electrical short someplace else in the wiring, but someone here told me that you can delete the crank position sensor. I'm just curious if that true? I thought that was an essential sensor for the PCM engine management. Obviously I'd sort out the issue with the trouble code first, but just wondering if you can delete this sensor and if so how do you compensate in the tune for not having a crank position sensor and the reluctor ring?

I was the one that told you that just before the LS1 guys jump the gun you need it on a LS1 car because they have coil packs we still have the opti-crap on LT1 cars
