Factory WS6 exhaust vs. Magnaflow?
Looking to upgrade my exhaust for a little more growl and hopefully some horsepower, so my question is this: Will the Magnaflow catback system out perform the stock WS6 exhaust? I wasnt 100% sure if the stock system on the WS6 is considered "free-flowing" or not.
And the reason for looking at the Magnaflow system is due to it's a stainless unit and can be had for less than $500 bucks. Not too hot on the big fat tips though, but they could always be changed later. Any thoughts?
Joe.

Almost any aftermarket exhaust system will outflow the stock one. Or else there would be no aftermarket for it. Magnaflow is popular for its stainless steel pipes, sound, and price. But its too tame for some. Borla and SLP Loudmouth are also stainless steel, with borla being ~$800 and LM for ~$425. www.ls1sounds.com is a great place to start for sound clips.

just change the muffler out. the mufffler is the biggest restriction in any exhaust.

I didnt realize the LM was stainless too, but I dont care for SLP products (bad experience with poor customer service) or the sound of the loudmouth (personal taste). The whole reason for the question was just to find out how well the WS6 exhaust flowed compared to the average cat-back system. I'll probably end up going the Magnaflow route, I like the sound quality and the tips can always be changed later. I plan on eventually going with long tubes anyhow, so the mellowness of the Magnaflow will be woken up a bit when that happens.

I dont think the stock WS6 exhaust flows that bad. If you want it louder I'd get long tubes and/or take the cats off.

Truth hurts.
Magnaflow is cheaper than the GMMG, Corsa, Borla. Sound is subjective.
But the Magnaflow flows as good or better.

i have longtubes with no cats and 3 inch ORY that ends with a magnaflow. love the sound-real quiet. almost as quiet as my stock '02 z28. but i also have a cutout for each header-thats the obnociousness in me :-)

My LT's and LM sounded ricey. Horrible...didn't even sound like a V8.
Got worse when it was cammed.

Well, at least I'm not planning on camming this car.
Do you think the LT-LM setup is louder than running open headers?
