black- 2000 nhra edition formula
before a cam, you need headers and catback at the very least.
is your car a auto or manual trans?
if auto, get a stall converter first. a stall is the best mod that can be done for an automatic trans.
youll really piss off your friend in his GT.2000 nhra edition formula
a few bolt ons, 379 rwhp

How much boost is he running?
A cam can only make up for so much boost. If you want to dust him, you may have to consider FI as well.

nah, you dont need FI to get him. A decent sized stall, tranny cooler, LT headers, cat back, mebbe an intake, and a decent cam should do. Dont know what your spending limit is thou. Along with that cam you will need springs, some titanium retainers, locks, and hardened pushrods at the least. Really some decently ported heads along with this combo would be ideal, but then again, thats some cash. Slap some sticky tires on there and you should be beating that stang easily. What boost is he running? what are his other mods? What are yours?

get yourself some pacesetter LT's and find a good deal on a lid. then find yourself a cam in the 230-236 duration range on about a 114 LSA (for driveability) and you will also need new springs retainers and pushrods. you can find all the for around 1100 bucks and should net you around 400rwhp.

buy all that stuff, install it, get your car tuned and blow your buddies doors off.
Cam specs I would recommend are a 230-232 .590 .598 114 lsa
a buddy of mine has a cam similar to that (maybe a little smaller) on a 6 speed SS and ran out of injector at around 410 rwhp on a dyno.

NBM- 98 Trans Am
I have the F14 cam, comp springs, hardened pushrods, retainers, 3800 TCI stall in my car. If you shop around you should be able to get these parts and a tune for under $1000. I paid 250 for the cam, 250 for the springs, pushrods, and retainers, 300 for the stall, and 300 for a TSP dynotune. It can be done, but you have to look around. I got all the internals from LS1tech from a guy that only used these parts on a dyno. The stall came off this site and was freshly rebuilt.
