    Is this a good setup?

An LT1 with intake, SFC, exhaust, a good cam thats more on the daily driver side, maybe a shift kit and a tune? and possible 3.73 gears

Im trying to figure out more about the cams so would the power from the cam still need to upgrade to a stonger rear end axle?

If that is your car in your Avatar, then you have an LS1 not an LT1

Well, all of those mods are not necessary.
If you put a cam you can keep the stock intake.
The rear end will hold up O.K.
Exhaust will help with the cam or without the cam.
3:73's will help no matter what and combine that with a stall.
The tune goes along with the cam if you wanna get the most out of it.

Installing a cam doesn't mean you have to do all of these other mods, but it helps.

Try to ask one question at a time and let us know what your goals are so we can better answer your questions. And it might be a good idea to post this question in the LT1 section.

Well im getting desperate finding an LS1 so I am thinking about going for an LT1 and mod it up. Its mostly going to be a DD and sometimes I am going to take it out to the drag strip. If I get an LT1 I am trying to get it to atleast be a little faster then the LS1 but I don't want to spend the 2 grand into getting a 9 inch or a 12 bolt.

I am worried if I get the LT1 and put a cam in it, that it would tear apart the rear end so bottom line is im asking if a camed LT1 would hold up with a stock rear end.
