I would compliment the cat-back with a header/mid-pipe set-up. Although, my first mod is most likely a custom Art Carr torque converter w/ B&M Hi-Tech cooler

I myself was asking the same question about two weeks ago. I work in denver, colorado at bandimere speedway which is our big drag strip in colorado I got catback done on my car and dropped 3 tenths off my quarter mile time, and then went with the slp cold air intake system $278.99 @ marylandspeed.com and it droped another 2 tenths off my quarter mile time and added 2.5 mph to my quarter time. Then that friday i did a dyno run and talked with the tuners. They told me the best bang for your buck is definatley HP TUNERS. AT HPTUNERS.COM it is $499.99 they also stated that if you get headers or any mods you have to have your computer tuned to get the max hp out of it. Also many people state that if you get headers your vehicle will run extremley rich, but if tuned can add up to 45 hp says Ken Duttweiler hot rodmagizine october 2007 issue when tuned with hp tuner. they said hp tuners will maximize every aspect of your vehicle and from watching guys at the track at 5,800 ft above sea level everyone said hp tuner made the hugest diffrence.
Matt 99 Camaro 336.8 hp 342.5 tq. at 5,800 ft above sea level 14.5 @101.98 mph

    tune

a tune will maxiamize the output of your bolt ons, i have slp diablo tune and i love it, im going get a dyno tune sometime just dont have acess to a dyno around here, if u have dyno close to you and can afford it i would get a tune and after i added more bolt ons get another, that way you can see just what they give u

I would first go with and CAI, then look at headers...I'd wait till you can do the tune at the same time to get the headers..

I would get a good tune and some rear gears installed. 4:10's or 4:30's should deffinetly wake your car up.

Get a nitrous kit (wet) and a computer tune!
You'll love it and it will only put added wear and tear on the motor is when your holding the button which is seconds at a time......

There is NO other mod that will give you any where near the bang for your buck.

Kits are VERY SAFE these days as long as you get a quality install.
Don't be afraid of the bottle!!! Be afraid of your tune!!!
