i was wondering the same thing. i was trying to get my friend to register but his emails didnt work. luckily he did have one email that worked. However i do understand why we do it. it helps prevent spammers and troll accounts.

Yeah, like "yourname@yahoo.com", or other sites that offer e-mail accounts that you don't have to pay for in any way.

thats kind of what i thought. my email address came with my internet service.

Same here. I'm currently registered with my old Hotmail account. Tried changing it to my Gmail account, since I'm trying to move all my stuff to Gmail. Getting tired of all the ridiculous spam on Hotmail. Who can I PM or ask to change my e-mail for me? I'm not a spammer, I'm just not a frequent poster.

I registered well before all this with a "pay email" but now I use Gmail... how the hell do I get the system to accept it??

I have Gmail. But I also have a slew of 'email'@'my domain name'.com stuff that ISN'T free if I had to use it (for two domains).
