need help identifying this sound
Recently, my car has been making a sound (sounds like when the brake pads squeal or someone's nails scratching a chalkboard) whenever I'm driving. The sound come and goes and is prominent when i'm braking or turning. I only hear the sound when the car is in motion and not idling. Anyone have any ideas what this might be? Thanks

how many miles on your current pads? Your description makes it sound like you might just need new pads. There's a little tab on the pad itself that touches the rotor when the pads wear to a certain point. When this happens it makes a high pitched squeal and usually is intermittent at first.

I'd guess your pads are going too. Put the car up on jack stands, pull the front wheels off and check how much of the friction material is left on the pad surface (between the metal backing plate and the rotor itself). Make sure you check both the inside and outside pad. Also, check for uneven wear - this will often cause all sorts of strange noises.
