    Cat-Back exhaust, Will it help?

I have a 1998 Z28 with a few induction mods and i was going to get a dyno tune with the little money i have left. i was wondering would it be better to buy the SLP LM 1 instead of the tune? would exhaust alone add hp and tq? if so how much? Ty for any replies

With what you have, its definately not worth paying for a tune, unless that is all you are going to be doing to your car (which I doubt). Go with the exhaust. And yes, you will see hp and tq gains with the catback, plus the sound is never a bad thing.

I doubt you'll really feel it on the road. You might have better throttle response, but you won't sit there and say, "Damn, I can feel the difference". But it does free up hp. Typical gains for a catback at anywhere from 5-10rwhp. Most catbacks pretty much see the same gains, except for flowmaster.

Ok. Thanks. If i can afford it after installation and everything i will definatly go with the exhaust. the only reason i wanted a tune in the first place is b/c the SES light came on. Chevrolet says it is running lean b/c it is not tuned to run with those parts.(SLP lid, SLP MAF, SLP intake elbow)

The reason Different brands cost different prices is for - 1. Quality, 2. Sound, 3. Looks. Hope that helps. Brad

personally i would sell your SLP MAF since your stock MAF can handle 500hp. i had the SLP LM and with stock exhaust it sounded great...

why you are throwing an SES light and the code reads :too lean, is a new one. most people have never said that the SES is tripped after doing just basic induction mods like what you have done to date.

also, with what you have done, you do not need a tune at this time...

Aftermarket MAF's, especially from SLP are garbage. Do not use them, they are a waste of cash. My friend with a 396 '94 T/A had one and dumped it because it was screwing with his car as well.

That SLP MAF is the reason why you are throwing lean codes. Put the stocker back on there and you should be fine.
