I know its an age old question but all kidding aside i'd like to hear your own intellectual opinions / views

but when I read the title of the post the first thing that came to mind is the sound of someone with buck teeth trying to say sh*it .. hee hee

There are 50 different theories about what it's about.

I do know that the first bit of the song was stolen from the song "Taurus" by the band Spirit. Page even admited that.

I always loved that song, but I never did understand what the hell it was all about.

i just read through the lyrics again and it seems that it could also be taken as an outlook on religion and how it can be practiced or how it can be false

she was faithfull to her religion but now she knows that it could be a waste if she dies (buys a stairway to heaven)

no one is gonna bring up the back masking point... yeah yeah yeah... i know ghey.... but its one of the FEW songs that isnt pure babble in reverse... and i like to think that its really there since it would represent both sides of the path spoken of in the song... and if satan does exist how do you get the greatest song of all times? you make a deal with him...

see if i can find the lyrics...

its definately laced with relegious meaning... and i think it can be taken really many ways... thats y its a such a good song (what am i saying? greatest song ever!!!!)... alot of ppl can find a way to relate to it...

here are the lyrics to stairway to hell... i have to admit i have never run the record in reverse... and i dont have the vinyl or record player to do it the right way (alot of ppl say that its not as distinguisable just played bacwards on at comp, that the needle being used backwards affects how its played)
