1999 Trans Am Pace Setter headers
I was wondering if anyone has installed a set of long tube pace setters on their 98-99 ls1. I have a 99 trans am and the long tube headers, but no clue where to start. Can anyone help me with an installation walk through or any tips? Thanks

I just installed pacesetter long tubes on my 99 ss. The hardest part was getting the old manifolds and y pipe off the car. Definately spray all bolts with some wd or pb blaster. I removed the egr and air lines from the old manifolds and passenger side coil packs for access. I didn't have to pull the spark plugs, but if its been a while this is a good time to change them. I also used jack stands in a garage, just be careful while under the car. Pacesetters fit great, I didn't have any clearance problems, just get the car high enough to fit them in from the bottom. When removing the old manifolds on the passenger side I had to use a box wrench and slip a large deep socket with an extension as a handle for enuff leverage to break the rear bolts loose. I would also recommend buying 24" o2 extensions for the drivers side. It took me about 9hrs to complete. Good luck on your install.

pace setters
thanks for replying, how high did you have to get the car on jackstands?
I think the o2 extenders came with the headers.

I left the jack stand at the lowest pin height putting the front up first and then the back. When it was time to slip the headers in I jacked the front up higher leaving the back on the jack stands. Probably about two feet I put a ramp under the front wheels for safety in case the jack went down while I was underneath. Once I got the headers in I lowered the front back on the jack stands in the front.
